ASAGIRY MINORY
"Why do you spell it 'Asagiry Minory' & not 'Asagiri Minori' ? Are you stupid ?" Because it's cute & I can do whatever I want. NEXT !!!
Anyway, if I had to pick my favorite mobpsy character, it would be her. Without a doubt. She has purple hair & purple is my favorite color, she's a controversial female character & I will always defend controversial female characters with my life. She's my cute little princess & she never did anything wrong ever. "But she was a bully !!! She was bullying Mob !!!" Have you considered that maybe Mob deserved it ? That his vibes were off ? People won't ever allow a girl to be herself. Says a lot about society.
Minory is a spoiled brat, cheesecake enthusiast & borderline
(as in BPD, y'know) middle school student from a wealthy family. She's basically one of the Mogami Arc's antagonists, so she only shows up in that arc & never again in the series. And that pisses me OFF. She's such an interesting character, I really wanted to see more of her.
(Also, I would've used another image on the desktop sidebar that's different from the shrine thumbnail, but she barely has any official art
‹/3 It's alright, she still looks cute no matter what.)
In the manga, there's a panel that shows her being a
pitcher ! Look at her wonderful smile. Isn't she
adorable ? How could anyone possibly hate
her ?
What I like about her is that she's an antagonist who's not "evil to the core" at all. But she's not really "misunderstood" either, in the sense where she didn't do bad things because of some noble reason. She was downright mean, self-centered & had no problem asserting her dominance over those she saw as weak. Even then, it was easy to tell that underneath it all, she was insecure & completely driven by the need to be loved & accepted by her peers. Lots of fans look past this when talking about Minory, unfortunately. They don't realize that if she were in a different environment where acting like a piece of shit would result in her being ostracized, then she would avoid acting like a piece of shit. You know, behavior you'd fully expect from teenage girls who care too much about how they're perceived.
I find the way her desire for social acceptance is portrayed to be spot-on for a child her age. What I like about mobpsy is that it shows kids acting like kids. It also shows that it's never too late for them to change their ways if they really want to. The series also applies this message to the adult characters, but I feel like it's very important for teens to remember that they don't have to let their past behavior define who they are in the present & the future, even if their actions aren't forgiven. If I watched this arc as a child, I would've probably found it life-changing, honestly.
One of my favorite scenes of all time. I really want to hear it dubbed in Arabic. "really want" is an understatement. I would eat dirt & bugs on camera if it meant we'd get the Arabic dub for S2. But Crunchyroll decides to be evil as usual.
I just love everything about her. I cannot think of a SINGLE thing I dislike about her. Okay maybe I don't like the unnecessary difficulty of drawing her hair well. But aside from that, I think she's neat. I really enjoy seeing content featuring her, whether it's official or fanmade. She's one of those characters I can't see myself living without, no matter how much time passes. She's held the title of my favorite mobpsy character ever since I got into the
series ! You know what, I might even dare to say she's probably my favorite character of all time. You might be
thinking : "What about
Reigen ? You drew him more than 1000 times. Your brain literally has wrinkles shaped like his hideous face. Is this not insane fan
behavior ?" Well I'm not gonna argue with the insane part. But if I had a gun to my head & I had to pick between a female character & a male character, then I would pick the female character, even if I didn't have a gun to my head.
I even make sure to always purchase plain hotpink phone cases just so I can match with hers. I cannot buy any other color. Choosing another color would be like betraying her.
It's strange, because our personalities are so different, yet she's often on my mind. I even subconsciously connect the little me with her sometimes. I can understand her being so desperate for love & doing whatever it takes to get it. Even if it meant doing awful, questionable things, or simply things she'd heavily regret doing later. She's just very special to me, for both general & personal reasons. Thank you, Asagiry Minory, for being the cute, passionate & amazing girl that you are. I would force myself to eat 50 gazillion slices of cheesecake for you, even if I don't really like cheesecake.
